Strategies for Alleviation

  • Whilst women are left alone by their partners to take care of children on their own, the programme aims to support them by restoring relationships between fathers and their children, where possible and lobbying responsible men to be the role model fathers to children who lack the fatherly presence.
  • Empower women to allow the presence of the father in the life of the child even if the father is struggling to be financially involved. We need to get women to separate the two. Whilst the law can assist in dealing with the financial support, we would like to have mothers to encourage emotional support.
  • We will rally all the support we can around the child so that they can thrive regardless of us succeeding with the father’s involvement or not.
  • We teach women to love themselves and be okay even if they do not have a partner
  • We encourage women to date men who are traceable. Traceability assists in getting to know the person to minimise the risk of getting involved with men who are violent or irresponsible
  • We encourage women to be with men who respect and honour them
  • We create skills development opportunities for women
  • We create business opportunities and leads for women
  • We assist women to invest in property

Counselling

Professional counselling is a resource that is not available in our black communities. When people go through different levels of trauma and depression,  do not resort to counselling because it is not easily accessible. We have a team of psychologists, retired and active professional mental health practitioners. We will raise funds that will assist those who will not afford help. Currently  we have a social worker who is assisting.

Expected Outcomes of the Programme:

  • A network of women who take full responsibility of their lives and are continuously building themselves
  • A confident woman who has a place to go for support and guidance
  • A woman who is sober to guide their children
  • A woman who is financially viable to take care of their household
  • A woman who gets into healthy relationship,  empowered to assess the potential partner.
  • A woman who takes pride in their physical appearance and their health
  • A woman who is accountable as holding other women accountable.
